Green in the New Year!
Saturday, January 30th

In this workshop lead by Julie Naylon of No Wire Hangers, you'll learn how to declutter and live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. Each area of the home will be broken down with tips on how to live a little greener and lighter.  You'll also get a recycling education on what can and can't go in the blue bins.

*Fun Fact: According to a study conducted by a Boston marketing firm, the average American burns 55 minutes a day looking for things they know they own but cannot find.  Find more fun facts by clicking here.

Greywater 101
Saturday, February 27th
2:00-4:00

Greywater is waste water from bathtubs, showers, bathroom sinks and laundry which can be diverted away from sewer lines and used for landscape irrigation.  Leigh Jerrard, founder of California Greywater Corps, is a professional installer of residential greywater irrigation systems in the Los Angeles region and will give you an over-view on how these simple systems can save you tens of thousands of gallons of water and hundreds of dollars per year while keeping your garden beautiful.

Coming Soon.......

The Green Beacon is pleased to announce that we are working with local real estate broker & fellow "Greenovater" (see Planet Green) Ryan Flegal to bring you home listings in & around the Los Angeles area that are unique, in need of preservation and perfect for a "green" tune-up. Ryan used to co-own a national real estate company franchise and co-managed an office of over 30 real estate agents, so he is well-versed in the business with an emphasis on "going green."  He recently moved into a gorgeous home originally built in 1876 and has been fixing it up slowly and improving the energy efficiency.  He has also planted a very young food forest including 30 fruit trees and incorporated two greywater systems, so needless to say he knows a thing or two about renovating older homes!  We will start including these tailor-made home listings in our next newsletter so stay tuned to find out more.....
